1 · Import

Drop in the statement you already have.

Spreadsheets, CSVs and PDFs all work, and if the PDF is only a scan, iSpend reads the words off it for you. It tells you which bank it recognized, lists everything it found, and flags anything you already have, so nothing is ever counted twice.

  • One statement or a year’s worth at once

2 · Sort

It sorts itself, and learns from you.

Your own rules go first, then what iSpend remembers about the places you shop, then the thousands of merchant names it already knows. Whatever is left arrives grouped by merchant, so one answer sorts every charge from that place at once. Every answer is remembered.

3 · See

See the month in one honest picture.

Spent, earned, and what was left. This month against last, by category, with the exact difference. Your top merchants, ranked, because it is rarely the big purchases. It is the place you stop at four times a week without thinking.

  • Budgets that warn you mid-month, while there is still time
  • Split one Costco receipt across groceries and the kids

4 · Find

Find the subscriptions you forgot about.

The trial you meant to cancel. The app you last opened in March. Small, automatic, and still going out every month while nobody is looking. iSpend lists every recurring charge, what it costs over a year, and when it last renewed.

Privacy

You shouldn’t have to hand over your bank password to see a pie chart.

That is the deal most budgeting apps quietly ask you to make. iSpend reads the statement you can already download yourself, and nothing else. There is no tracking anywhere in the product, not even on this page.

  • No bank login, ever

There is nowhere to type it, so there is nothing to leak or to stay logged in. iSpend only sees the file you hand it.

  • Never sold, never shared

What you spend does not go to advertisers, data brokers or anyone else. Nothing you upload is pooled with anyone.

  • Yours to take with you

Download everything as a spreadsheet whenever you like. That stays true after the trial, and if you stop paying.

Questions

Before you start

Do I need to be good with money for this?

No. You need to be able to download a statement from your bank’s website, which you have almost certainly done before. iSpend does the reading, the sorting and the adding up. You do the looking.

Do I have to connect my bank?

No, and you couldn’t even if you wanted to. There is nowhere to type a bank password. You download a statement the way you already do, and upload the file.

What if my bank isn’t on the list?

It still works. iSpend works out which part is the date, the description and the amount. If it gets one wrong you put it right once, and it remembers that layout from then on. Credit unions and small banks are fine.

How long does the first statement take?

A minute or two to upload and preview. iSpend then sorts most charges itself and asks about the rest, grouped by merchant, so a first statement means a dozen or so answers. The second asks far fewer.

Does an AI read my statements?

Only if you turn it on and add your own key. Leave it alone and nothing of yours goes near an AI. Even switched on, it only suggests. You decide.

What happens when the trial ends?

Nothing is deleted. After a few days’ grace the account goes read-only: you can still sign in, look at everything and download all of it. Subscribing switches it all back on. Canceling takes two clicks, and payments go through Stripe, so your card never touches iSpend.

Last month’s statement is already in your downloads folder.

Drop it in and find out what’s in it. It takes about as long as reading this page did.
