Terms

The deal, without the small print.

What you can expect from iSpend, what we ask of you, and how the trial and subscription work.

Effective [EFFECTIVE DATE] · Applies to iSpend as run by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME]

The short version

  • You upload your own statements; iSpend sorts and adds them up. It is a tool for looking, not financial advice.
  • Try it free. If you subscribe, you can cancel in two clicks, and your data stays yours and stays downloadable either way.
  • Use it for yourself, keep your password to yourself, and don’t try to break it.

1. The agreement

These terms are a contract between you and [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] (“we”, “us”), who run iSpend. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use iSpend.

2. What iSpend is

iSpend reads bank and card statements you upload (spreadsheets, CSVs and PDFs, including scans), sorts the charges into categories, finds recurring payments and shows you totals, trends and budgets. It does not connect to your bank, move money, or give advice. Categories, duplicate detection and any AI suggestion can be wrong; check the numbers before you act on them.

3. Your account

You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live. Give us a working email address, keep your password secret, and tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account. One account is for one person; what happens under your sign-in is your responsibility until you tell us otherwise.

4. What you may and may not do

Upload only statements that are yours or that you are entitled to hold. Don’t use iSpend for anything unlawful, don’t try to reach other people’s data or the parts of the service you aren’t authorised for, don’t overload it with automated traffic, and don’t copy, resell or reverse-engineer it. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, and we will tell you why.

5. Your data stays yours

Everything you upload, and everything iSpend derives from it, belongs to you. You give us only the permission we need to store it, process it and show it back to you. We never sell it or share it with advertisers. You can export all of it as a CSV at any time and ask us to delete it; the privacy policy explains exactly how.

6. Trial, subscription and payment

Every new account starts with a free trial; we don’t ask for a card to start it. If you want to keep going you subscribe to the one plan, monthly or yearly, and payment is taken by Stripe under its own terms. Subscriptions renew until you cancel, which you can do in a couple of clicks from Billing; you keep full access until the end of the period you paid for. We may change the price, and we will email you at least 30 days before a change affects you. Refunds: [REFUND POLICY].

When a trial or subscription ends, nothing is deleted. After a short grace period the account becomes read-only: you can still sign in, look at everything and download all of it. Subscribing switches everything back on.

7. Optional AI features

AI suggestions are off unless you add your own OpenRouter key. If you do, your use of that model is also governed by OpenRouter’s terms and the model provider’s, and you are responsible for any charges on your key. AI output is a suggestion, not a fact.

8. Availability and changes

We work to keep iSpend up and improving, but we don’t promise it will be available at every moment or that it will suit every purpose. We may add, change or retire features. If we ever decide to shut the service down, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice and time to export your data.

9. Ending the agreement

You can stop using iSpend at any time; cancel any subscription first so nothing renews, then ask us to delete your account if you wish. We may end the agreement if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or with 30 days’ notice for any other reason. Either way, you can export your data before it goes.

10. Limits on our responsibility

iSpend is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for decisions you make based on what iSpend shows you, or for loss of data you could have exported. Our total liability to you for anything arising from these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of [GOVERNING LAW], and disputes go to the courts of [JURISDICTION], unless the law where you live gives you protections that override this. Before either of us goes to court, we agree to try to sort it out by email first.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For anything that matters we will email you at least 30 days before the new terms apply; keep using iSpend after that and you accept them. The date at the top tells you which version you are reading.
